Have you ever set out to accomplish goals before? This seems like a silly question for you super achiever doesn't it?

The problem is that even though people think they want something, they dislike change. They find it uncomfortable to change their established behaviors and action patterns. It's scary to step into the territory of unknown after all.
It could also be that what is needed to be done to accomplish those goals is not as glamorous as they first thought. For instance, it's easier to come up with an excuse rather than go to the gym. And as they stay in the inertia for too long, it will get harder and harder to take action every time.
If you want to make affirmations work, you will need to accept the changes you desire.
This seems so fundamental, and yet people delude themselves all the time. Another problem is that they give up way too quickly. If they use an affirmation and don't see results immediately, they pass them off as not working, or it wasn't meant to be.
When affirmations do start to work, people can become fearful of the new result as it is changing who they think they are. Their identities become part of those changes, and that can scare the previous version of themselves.
Another situation that arises is when speaking about your changes or affirmations to others.
They may pass them off as superstition or have other misgivings about the practice. Some people may even tease you about your irrational belief of using them. In the end, you will be the better person as you grow from your journey. This doesn't help in the short-term when people are picking on you about what you are doing.
If you can get past the doubters and even your own self-doubt, you will be well on your way to having something wonderful happen to you. Plus, you will set the stage to have many other wonderful things happen in your life.
You can take command of your life and can repeat this as many times as you want something.
You just need to make sure you are mentally prepared for those changes to occur. Change does not come easily to many and may take a bit of time to break through barriers you hold.
One way to handle change is to start out slowly.
Don't try to enact too many changes at once as this can overwhelm you. Take small incremental steps and get used to each change, then increase them when you feel comfortable in doing so. When you're willing to baby step your way to change, you will eventually arrive your ultimate destination.

I Fell in Love With an Auburn Complexion Zombie From the Mississippi Bayous (True Story?)
It was on a terribly hot and muggy mid-summer afternoon in the Mississippi bayous that my concepts of that which are real and that which is unreal became more academic. In fact, that particular afternoon was so humid that with every ten steps that I took I lost at least a pound and a half of body fluids. The mosquitoes and biting flies that normally made a track in the bayous very uncomfortable chose to remain in the shade instead of battling the heat and the humidity just to take a bite out of me.
I had come to this inhospitable swamp land to study the impact of human encroachment on the native flora and fauna as part of a mid-term thesis. Consistent with my research objectives, it was imperative that I find locations that were as isolated as possible from direct human contact. The sky was cloudless in my immediate surroundings but in the distance, dense dark rain clouds could be seen forming suggesting that a heavy shower was quite possible within the near future.
My college major was in biology and my minor was in not making a butt-hole of myself when I when out on a date. It seemed to always happen to me that when I met a cute and fancy I would invariably say or do the wrong thing that would throw the moment out of whack. Well, that was neither here nor there as my focus at that particular time was on wiping the sweat away from my eyes and concentrating on the environment of study.
I heard a rustling in the underbrush that came from a short distance away. My first impression of this sound was of it being a snake. I have always found snakes to be scary and if at all possible I will routinely do my utmost to avoid them. Snakes are too sneaky for me and they look very mean. I diligently securitized the ground around me to make sure that I had no unwanted visitor lurking close, and as I slowly raised my eyes from the ground there she was standing very still and quiet intently eyeballing me.

The question of what she was doing in the middle of the swamp never entered my mind as I stood transfixed by her bewitching charms. Her dress is not blue and neither is it white but is a blend of the two colors augmented by her reddish-brown flesh underneath.
A horny-toad used one of my feet as a trampoline when it moved pass to wherever it was going. Shadows were quickly forming as the dense dark rain clouds previously seen at a distance now encroached overhead. My lips were moving as I spoke greetings to her but not a single sound was coming out of my mouth. Asclepias incarnata (swamp milkweed), Aster puniceus (red-stem aster, swamp aster), and Helianthus simulans (narrow-leaved sunflower, swamp sunflower) dutifully parted as they made a path for her to walk along.
Lifeless brown eyes of paradise and hell combined leisurely walks towards me. A radiant glow to benumbed reddish-brown skin takes control of my feet and moves me to her. I am under her control and it frightens me, yet I adore it. Evidently, she is going to have her way with me here in the middle of the swamp. I want to race towards her as she unhurriedly raises her arms and beckons me with her hands but I cannot because she is deliberately maneuvering me at her discretion.
I can no longer feel the heat and the humidity of the day because I am captured by her beckoning presence. My state of being is overwhelmed by her as I have surrendered my freedom to act and judge on my own to her. Bright and shiny is the reddish-brown complexion lifeless one who is going to make a mockery of the living so that she can satisfy her lust for the dead.
A light rain begins to fall causing her dress to cling melodramatically to her skin. There is absolutely no measure of diplomacy in this unexpected get-together due to the fact that she sensuously stirs me beyond any form of savoir-faire that I fashioned myself as being in possession of before this particular day in the Mississippi Bayous.
The closer that she gets to me the more that I fall apart all over. I think that this is history for me. I am done for, a goner. Even if I wanted to resist her, I couldn't. Even if I could find the strength to run away from her, I wouldn't. In a very impressive manner, she has greatly impressed me. Her beckoning hands are about to touch me. The love of my life may well be the end of my life. The soil beneath my feet is slowly starting to swirl in a counterclockwise direction. The light rain has now turned into a torrential downpour. A lifeless smile suddenly appears on her dazzlingly brilliant dead lips as she places her hands on my shoulders and pushes downwards driving me deeper into the swirling soil. I love and adore her, however, I'm starting to get the weird notion that this exhilarating woman may well be a zombie. I suppose this because she appears to be so dead that she is electrifyingly alive.
Her gorgeously dead shimmering chocolate eyes are piercing through my soul as she continues to push me deeper into the swirling soil. Thunder and lightning become the rhythm section for the chorus of my knocking knees. I place my hands on her spicy hips and start to move in sync with the voodoo music that the thunder and lightning are making in concert with my beating knees. If this is a dream I seriously would like to awaken from it, yet, if this is a dream I honestly want to remain in it.
My surroundings have become a great big blur because I am aware of nothing else except for this wondrous enchantment that is as dead as it gets and is as alive as it can become. My mind, that had gone blink, is now being filled with her unspoken words. I want to believe that I am in a dreamlike state of consciousness but the feel of her ice cold velvety skin confirms that she is real. Daylight has turned into twilight because of the dense blanket of dark rain clouds overhead. With this woman, I feel that I can comfortably rest in peace, and judging from what I believe that she is, my doing so seems to be a momentarily given.
This is the beginning of whatever awaits me. Her hard stillborn nipples are pointing the way to my captivity. I am gladly willing to become her slave. My destiny is set as we are both now chest deep in the swirling soil and steadily descending deeper and deeper. In the near future, I will experience the mysteries of cheesecakes and honeydew melons. Very soon this enigmatic woman will whodunit to me in a fashion and a manner that will thrill me to death, and I will love it.

A Duck Princess
It was a hazy evening and the students of the ballet class were returning to their dorms. The fountain was pouring its heart. It was singing a sweet goodnight to the angels who would soon have their dinner and go to bed. The ballet academy had a vast playground and several trees flowers and rides to play with. The spring-well fountain was the centre of attraction and the favourite place of the students. They used to practice their dance-lessons until they reached perfection. Their shoes would wear out at the end of the month but they did not care. They wanted to be ideal. Such was their dedication and their ballet teacher Mr Meow was equally good. He had strange whiskers like a cat and a funny temperament. If he found a student dull-as-ditchwater in his/her performance he would go wild and run around the hall and scream and ask them to fetch loads of Jalapenos for him to eat. It was quite amusing to watch but the students loved him and knew he was worried about them.
The class saw its best students this year. Rue cha, Keith, Ana, and Ahiru. They were beautiful dancers and possessed unique qualities. Rue cha was an exquisite girl with raven like hairs and legs like butter sticks. She was dainty and danced like a fairy queen in the wonderland. She and Keith made an alluring pair and whenever they danced together, it created a magic on stage. The ballet positions like pirouette and arabesque looked dainty while they performed. Ana was a solo performer and her moves were dark and acrobatic. The students stood in the academy hall-room, saw them perform, and joined them in creating a magical atmosphere along with beautiful symphonies. It was because of these perfectionists the call for the all-round Ballet Competition was in the air. Everyone knew that it was a piece of cake for the groupers. They believed in their talent and Mr Meow. Last but not the list was Ahiru. Her full name was Ahiru Mei Chan.
Ahiru was small, thin and a duck-lookalike. Her eyes were big and wide full of curiosity. Her friends called her a duck-face or a clumsy dancer. Thanks to her large orange hairs the others standing behind never stopped to sneeze. Ahiru was quaky, ducky, and bit like a girl who had a hard time dancing a ballet. Mr Meow considered her his 'Morning Crises' as he had to control his temper while counting her mistakes. Poor Ahiru! She had a hard time in the academy.
At her room near the attic, she used to gaze at the blue sky and feed the little sparrows that sat on her window. Some liked her hairy-nest so much that they had a good mind to build their nest on her head. She did not mind that. All she wished was a jocund company and waiting for her prince that was Keito Biros. She wanted to have a moonlight dance for once in her lifetime with him. Alas! It was still a dream for her, as keito was taken. He was Rue's prince.
Ahiru was an ordinary clumsy girl for others. She was a mess for her friends and for herself. Her panic attack came umpteen times a day when she bumped into Keito. She fluttered, blushed, and tripped twice on the hall-floor saving her soul. However, there was a sweet white secret lurking in her heart.
Her innocent red locket with which she fiddled contained her majestic charm. She was a Princess. A Duck Princess designed and destined to save the prince she silently prayed for his safety
She had a musician friend named Adele. She played sweet hopeful tunes with her musical box. Ahiru listened intently and all her sadness would wash away. Her hopes of being with Keito would become stronger and she gained more strength as a princess determined to save her love. One day the destiny smiled at her and she got the opportunity to fulfil her wistful dream. It was practice session for the Ballet Competition.
All the ballet boys and ballerinas had gathered in the meeting hall. It was full of mirrors so it looked as if there were thousands of tiny dancers standing in a queue. Each one had to give a solo performance so that the dance movements could be monitored. The star performers Rue and the other girls performed gracefully. The hall filled with applauds and whooping. Ahiru was standing at the end of the line. She watched Rue and Keito performing with mesmerizing eyes. They moved like a coupling of the swans. It was a stunning performance but Ahiru had her heart elsewhere. "So seemingly beautiful"! Why oh why can I not take a hold of his hands just once in mine?" Why am I so incompetent? I wish I had the same grace and fiery spirit as Rue... L! She was musing and knotting her fingers while her gaze was fixed on keito.
"MISS AHIRU CHAN!" She panicked and whirled around. Mr Meow was staring at her with rage. "Oh no I am in trouble!" Ahiru was petrified. "Miss Chan I believe this is a practice and monitoring session?" So where is your concentration headed?" If you do not focus on your steps, I am afraid I will have to eliminate you right away! You understand?" yeaaasss... She blabbered. "I am sorry Mr Meow" she smiled wanly. Mr Meow went ahead huffing and puffing. It was her turn now. She had to show her best this time. Ahiru took a deep breath and glancing sideways to her love she went in the middle of the studio.
The tune went in the air- "Although my love is small it is big enough for the world to be conquered!" she closed her eyes and surrendered to the rhythm. She danced. Oh how she danced! Her body as if was under the musical spell. All she wanted was to be a perfect dancer for her beloved prince. There was an aura of love around her and she consumed the energy in her
She danced a beautiful pirouette and an arabesque pose finishing with a perfect pas-de-deux. When the music ended, the audience was silent and stunned. Even Rue was looked dismayed a bit and was staring at her with venomous eyes. Mr Meow was silent for a while and shaking his head came towards her. A sudden roaring deafening applause filled the hall with catcalls and whopping.
Nobody could believe she danced so well Even Ahiru did not believe what her body did She recovered her senses and looked shyly at Keito. For once, he looked surprised and wowed in disbelief. "Well done Miss Chan!" I did not know you had that in you." You surprised us today dear Ahiru." Mr Meow said with obvious appreciation. I believe I have to rethink over my decision of creating the star couple in the competition. Keep doing your best and soon it will be your time." Ahiru was beaming. She bowed graciously to the students and went back to her place. One after one the performers showed their talents and grace and it was indeed a beautiful evening. Later some refreshments were served and the students got ready to retire for the night.
"My oh my! I saw his smile! He was smiling at my dance. He liked it. Oh Keito!" Our duck princess was secretly hugging herself with glee. She knew she had reaped a seed of friendship in his heart. She mused again, "Calm down you duckling! You have a bad bad habit of over thinking things in your little feathery head. It is just the first step. I am not sure whether he will ever talk with me or sit with me in the fields. "Shethought of sharing this with Adele but decided it was after ten and surely the girls wouldn't let her go out of the premises at this time of night". Maybe later I can ask".
As she hurried towards her room, she heard a strange noise near the pond-side. "Oh dear! Who can that be?" Ahiru widened her blue eyes and patted her hairs. It was a nervous gesture of our little miss duckling. "Surely, it is just a bat or a bird. Oh, crap! Let me check." She walked slowly towards the flower bush. It stirred again and she froze. Something came out from behind and two dark twinkling eyes stared at her.
KEITO? Heart failure! Ahiru was dumbfounded and unable to speak. "What is he doing here? Is he in pain? Is he in trouble? What is wrong?" Minutes passed and keito came out and stood before her but still not speaking. Finally, she recovered herself and smiled wanly at him. "umm ahem hi keito. What are you doing here? It is so late." Keito remained silent. More time passed. Ahiru was uncomfortable now. She tried to ask the matter but he did not say a word. "God! What is wrong with him?" Is he staring at me because I look like an idiot? he is in some deep thought? Oh what should I do? Ahiru knew these moments were priceless even though nothing happened. She laid her eyes on her prince and they were near the moonlight pond with tranquil surrounding.
Keito came a bit closer and her breathing increased. He came nearer and nearer and suddenly as if in a rapt took her hand and whispered-"Ahiru Chan. You danced so well. You are like a secret dancer in the dark please will you dance with me tonight?"
"WHAT?"
"Did he just?" Our duck princess's invisible feathers stood up with amazement and shock. He is asking me for a dance. Is this a dream? Her already big eyes became wider but she did not answer. Keito smiled. His big brown eyes lit up with some unnamed emotion. Keito had the most beautiful smile. Slow and loving. Ahiru was mesmerized. Keito repeated his question. "Get a grip you duck!"
"Yes, My Prince I will dance with you." Smiling, he bowed graciously before her and took her hand and together they went near the water bank.
It was a star-studded night and Ahiru was dancing slowly and happily in her prince's arms. It was a magical dream for her. The tree branches swayed to the music of the wind, an imperceptible music box played heavenly tunes as Ahiru, and Keito swayed around the pond. Ahiru felt like a duck princess. She had trail of thoughts running in her mind but her heart was thumping with elation. Keito was looking at her big blue eyes and never for a moment had she felt that she was mocked as a feather-brained duck. She felt like a princess dancing with her knight.
"Oh keito! How had I longed for this moment to become alive? My entire life I had been waiting for you to hold me in your arms and dance a pas-de-deux. My destiny willed me to save you from all evil and I will give you your heart back. I give you a promise from my soul." Ahiru meditated these thoughts deep in her spirit and the aura became stronger. Adele looked from far distance and smiled "A duck's heart can act like a human. A girl will transform into a ballerina princess when she has to save her prince in distress".
"I may look like a duck but inside I am your princess and my piece of heart belongs to you" Ahiru opened her eyes and found that she had transformed into a Duck princess with yellow and white gown
She looked alluring and heavenly. Keito was wearing a royal knight's attire. Her love for him had transformed their souls and the starry night witnessed their beautiful union.
A heart that beats for others sees the most beautiful moments in the world. Even though I am like a duck I have a heart of gold and enough love to save the universe and my prince from destruction.

A Unique Love Story
I have been watching a television show called 'Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya'. It presents one unusual love story every episode and it has many seasons. I have watched most of the episodes. Among the several amazing love stories the one I liked the most was about a guy who was a writer named N and a girl who was a prostitute named K. It was the usual kind of romance where the boy and girl meet each other coincidently and fall in love. Also, the difference was not because the girl was a prostitute. The story was unassuming because of what the guy thought about the girl and the way he behaved with her. There is a subtle difference between showing that you care about the atrocities faced by the prostitutes and sharing the pain with one of them. Most of us in our society think that speaking out loud about our acceptance towards them or writing articles about how we can put an end to their suffering is most generous gesture we can afford to show them. I do not disagree that it is the first step towards bringing about a change in society and bestowing a ray of hope to these girls. At the same time most of us just do these things in order to prove our open-mindedness to other people but we do not actually think in the same way. In fact even the institutions for their rehabilitation often do not treat them right and sometimes even have worse ulterior motives. Our emotions are always locked away and we use these people to prove our worth. I believe there would be very few people who are not hypocrite about such viewpoints. Most of us would be still hating their lot and showing off how much we care.
In this story the girlfriend of the writer named G was such a person who was doing research on prostitution, its causes and how to save women from such rackets. When a goon being chased by police drops off K in N's house and threatens him to kill him if he refuses to keep K till the time he gets back, N is terrified and is left with no choice but to take care of K. In the beginning, he didn't know anything about K. When he first learnt that K is a prostitute he feels uncomfortable and extremely conscious of letting the girl remain in his house. This emotion was quite natural because society teaches us to judge people based on their profession without knowing their circumstances which led them into it. Also, he had the fear of being discovered by his girlfriend who may not understand his situation. As time goes by, he starts talking to K and gets to know how after becoming an orphan at a very young age she was sold by her heartless uncle to people involved in prostitution and human trafficking. He comes to know about how she was tortured and beaten up brutally upon refusing to become a prostitute. The repulsiveness he had felt for her at first changed to sympathy. N was portrayed as a sensitive guy, so it was not unusual for him to feel sad for K who had suffered so much injustice. He goes up to his girlfriend as he believes she being a researcher on such a topic would definitely help him to find a safe abode for this girl. But alas, she lashes out at him for letting K live with him and also passes derogatory remarks on K's character. He then realizes that the thesis she had written on the status of these women was just a topic for her to get her acknowledgements and accolades in her profession and not at all heartfelt. He breaks-up with her as he feels that they are two very different people who have very dissimilar thinking. He returns home dejected and tells K about the whole incident. K on the other hand feeling guilty about the whole situation and considering herself the cause of N's break-up, leaves him. When she sets her foot out of the house she is again caught by the goon who had run away from police custody. He along with others catch hold of her and force her to leave with them. While she struggles to free herself, N is woken up from his slumber by the commotion and he goes out to find her being forced upon by the goons. He fights them and in the process acknowledges her to be his wife. Soon a crowd gathers up and somebody calls the police who arrest the goons and take them away. K looks at him with eyes filled with love and respect as nobody till now had publicly acknowledged her and showed her the respect she deserved. In fact she had accepted her fate and thought that destiny had refused her the right to being loved and cared for.
Now, she felt that God was still there and people like N are incarnations of God. On the other hand N had never realized before that what he felt for K was much deeper and meaningful than sympathy. He had started caring for her unknowingly. Fighting for her had eventually made him feel for her but it had not occurred to him before the goons asked him what she meant to him, that he really loved her and had subconsciously accepted her as his better half.
This story is a fantasy but it does project the difference between hypocrisy and real acceptance of people who are judged adversely by society. Even educated people are not free from the social stigmas and cannot think beyond what they are made to believe. N was always very concerned about K and even when he was not in love with her, did not treat her improperly. The depiction of their love story was also not partial about the fact that she was in an indecent profession. In fact, it was more about her agony and the distress. Generally people fall in love with a person and then feel their pain. But in this story it was the opposite. N could feel the physical and mental torment that K went through and this pain made him fall in love with her.
This story really touched my heart because it could portray love in its true essence. Love is pure and unaffected. It doesn't happen based on where you belong, what you do, what you are, how you look, so on and so forth. It is as innocent and unadulterated as a new born child.
This article is an attempt towards diverting the reader's attention towards some prominent social issues. It consists of a short love story which is based on how an unfortunate socially disgraced girl can also find love. It brings forth the social hypocrisy which plagues our mind till this day.
